About this piece
Description
Known as Annapurneshwari in Karnataka, Annapoorani in Tamil Nadu and Annapurna Thakur in Bengal, the goddess of food is shown here in a 7-inch Panchaloha bronze idol with a golden finish. It measures 18 x 12 x 7 cm and weighs 1.2 kg, a comfortable size for the central place in a home temple.

Annapurneshwari is a benevolent form of Goddess Parvati, worshipped as the provider of food and nourishment. Her devotion spans India, from the Horanadu temple in Karnataka and the Annapurna temple in Kashi to Annapurna Puja in Bengal.
