About this piece
Description
For a home altar that needs a mid-size deity with presence, this Chola-style Annapoorna Devi murti is cast in Panchaloha bronze, measures about 4 inches (10 x 7 x 6 cm) and weighs 300 grams. It is handcrafted by South Indian artisans and has a golden bronze finish.
Annapoorna Devi, also known as Annapurneshwari and Annapurna Mata, is the Hindu goddess of food and nourishment and a form of Goddess Parvati. Devotees worship her for a home where meals are never lacking, and Annapurna Jayanti on Margashirsha Purnima is her main festival.
The idol is made in the style of Chola-period South Indian bronzes, a tradition still practised by artisan families today. It is a newly made piece, not an antique.
